Julie Mannell is a Montreal prose and poetry writer originally from Fonthill, Ontario. She was the first female author to be featured in the sports publication The Barnstormer. In 2012 she was awarded a fellowship position at the Summer Literary Seminars in Vilnius, Lithuania. Her work has been featured in various Canadian publications. Her writing has been described as "Southern Ontario Gothic," "edgy," "badass," as well as "vibrantly fresh." She was recently showcased at Matrix Magazine’s Pilot Reading Series. Julie is currently finishing a novel that features a small, insular community in rural Ontario as a failed Garden of Eden. She holds an undergraduate degree in English literature and Philosophy from McGill University.
